National Memorial Day Concert
For the past six years, Golden Corral Restaurants and the Disabled American Veterans organization have co-sponsored the National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
Co-hosted by actor Gary Sinise and Joe Montegna, this award-winning concert is the premier memorial service for the United States Military, honoring those who have made sacrifices or given their lives, as well as honoring returning wounded and their families.
The concert is simultaneously broadcast to nearly 1 million U.S troops worldwide via PBS and American Forces Radio and TV services.

Golden Corral supports local military initiative Triangle Flight of Honor
Our country’s “Greatest Generation” veterans are dying at a rate of 1,200 a day. That’s why a North Carolina based community-wide project called the Triangle Flight of Honor was created.
The Triangle Flight of Honor's mission is to provide a special kind of honor for the sacrifices of America’s WWII veterans. Veterans are flown to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorial created in their honor. During this one-day trip to Washington, the veterans have an opportunity to visit other memorials in the area. Each veteran is paired with a guardian, either a relative or volunteer, to ensure that the details of the day are taken care of for the veteran.
Top priority is given to the Triangle's senior veterans, those who served in World War II. The veterans do not pay for this activity - it is absolutely free. Our hope is to raise enough money to launch sufficient flights to Washington until all WWII veterans have had the opportunity.
Prior to the actual day of flight, a pre-flight breakfast hosted by Golden Corral, as well as a pre-flight meeting are held to provide all veterans and guardians with a detailed agenda of the upcoming "big day". Additional volunteers as well as a medical team travel with the veterans to Washington, DC.
Visit www.triangleflightofhonor.com or additional details, veterans’ stories and memories of WWII, plus you can donate to ensure that every North Carolina veteran has an opportunity to go to Washington. (North Carolina as two additional programs, Triad Flight of Honor (Greensboro/Winston Salem area) and the Wilmington Flight of Honor (Wilmington, NC).
Other states have similar Flights of Honor program. You can donate and/or volunteer today!
